On the weekend of August 29-30, a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary was desecrated outside of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Parish in Toronto.

Today, Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, offered his daily Mass and his prayers following it to the people of Our Lady of Lebanon Parish and all those who are suffering in the country of Lebanon after the tragic explosion that happened there last month.

You can watch Cardinal Collins express his thoughts on this incident here.

The Archdiocese of Toronto continues to collect funds for the Lebanon relief effort. Donations will be sent to the Catholic Near East Welfare Association, a papal agency with a strong presence in the area. If you are able, please donate to the relief effort here.

Churches in the Greater Toronto Area are infrequently vandalized, but any attack on a sacred space is deeply troubling. That is true for Archdiocese of Toronto parishes (like St. Patrick's Parish in Markham) or churches that are not part of the Archdiocese of Toronto (like Our Lady of Lebanon). We pray for all those effected by these actions.
